Blender is a powerhouse when it comes to modeling. I’d love to use it for modeling but I really hate that it just writes everything in.obj format. I would love it if blender would have a.obj format for itself, like 3ds is for 3dsmax. Other than that I think the developers are doing a great job and I wish them luck.

After years of using various dev cycles I have finally been stable with a 3.2 dev build. The new stuff was really awesome. However, just want to say that it takes a while to get things done right. 3.2 is the first dev build that allows to work on stuff for months, however when it comes to 2D workflow the dev cycle is unrealistically fast, which makes it less likely to be stable. On the other hand, when you stick to 3.2 or a few specific versions, the dev cycle is much more consistent. In the long run, this might be why Blender 3 has never been stable.

I’m very happy with Blender now. The overall 3D workflow just makes my time in Photoshop much more enjoyable, than it ever was. Also, not relying on Photoshop is a huge step for me, because I was never comfortable enough with it to use it for good images. Blender 3 is the first major software I’m comfortable enough with use for this.

You’re confusing 3.2.1 with 3.2.0. 3.2.0 was released on February 1.
And 3.2.1 (released in September) means the next big thing for Blender. eg. 3.3 in November, 3.4 in March, 3.5 in October, 3.6 in April, 3.7 in July, and so on. I think it would be perfect to follow this plan

1. Use x.0 (e.g, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0) for blender with very experimental releases (like any features thats really takes a long time to make, put it there). This way blender can use this bleeding-edge or prototype version like one or two year ahead before it goes stable.

I would like to suggest this poll for Blender. Blender currently has a AAA version LTS(Long Term Support) that is supported for three years. This should be the main target. There also exists Blender Blender CC for commercial users, which is not really directly supported by the Blender Foundation, but hey if you have money that’s cool. I do think, it’s about time for Blender to stop being a project for hobbyists and lets join forces to bring more users into the Blender project.

Thanks for all the replies. A few people have suggested not to have an “.X” version number, but I disagree. Yes, the “.X” is used in Computer Software; this is how Software Versioning Works.
In Software, the “.1” means the first version; the “.2” means the second version; etc. Likewise, the “.x” represents an “x” release. This is a Software versioning convention. It’s not really used on Blender or C/C++, so it can be unwise to use this convention for Blender. Blender can use this convention to label releases.

I like Ton’s suggestion. This works for Blender to allow the LTS version to stay in a stable state but have experimental features. This allows for more time for development of the community projects but it keeps Blender stable.
